Khaliji Kheltz

Band Members The Gibson family come from the Highlands and Islands of Scotland and have been living in the Middle East for the past four years. During this time they decided to update the traditional sound of the bagpipes, which Mhairi plays, by adding a guitar and a strong drum beat. And so the "Khaliji Kheltz" were born. Mhairi & Peter's children have also on occasions got into the act playing by percussion.

During their time in Saudi Arabia they played at many a Scottish event and even teamed up with an authentic seven piece Khaliji Band from Saudi Arabia for a farewell concert before packing their instruments and landing in Qatar. The family have recently hit the headlines in three UK newspapers all reporting on the unique Scottish/Arabic music collaboration, where the Saudi musicians learned Scottish tunes and Mhairi adapted traditional Arabic tunes on her bagpipes.
